Year One of LIFE & LEGACY Secures 347 Commitments, $17.2 Million
In the first year of the LIFE & LEGACY program, JCF and its twelve community partners secured a total of 347 legacy commitments in support of local Jewish organizations. The 347 commitments are primarily end-of-lifetime gifts from wills, trusts, insurance, and retirement assets, which will be held at the Jewish Community Foundation as permanent endowments to benefit
the designated organizations. The baseline goal JCF established for each organization was to secure at least 18 legacy commitments, with a stretch goal of 25 each – or 300 commitments for the community as a whole. In the end, each of the local partners secured at least 25 commitments, with some organizations exceeding 30 in Year One of the program. Estimated future value of the 347 commitments is $17.2 million.
The success of Year One was marked by a private luncheon where the Jewish Community Foundation presented each community partner a $10,000 unrestricted incentive grant ($120,000 total) for having met or exceeded the goal of 25 commitments. A community-wide cocktail celebration is planned for September 22, 2016.
