It is with more than a little embarrassment that we finally affix our names to the Book of Life. Typically, it is children who learn by the example of their parents. In our case, our two sons have preceded us as signators to this book. Our daughter, as well, has made a significant mark in the Jewish philanthropic world. Her name can be found on the JNF honor wall at the American Independence Forest outside of Jerusalem. We are very proud that the example we have tried to set in the way we conduct our own lives has caused them to become funders in their own right at such young ages.
We have always viewed support of the Jewish Federation as though we were paying for an insurance policy for the Jewish people. Even though we may support individually, a variety of other Jewish causes, it is the Jewish Community Foundation that is the safety net for our future. To know that with this small act of tzedakah, we are endowing our future support, we feel a sense of completeness and purpose that would be hard to exceed. And even though the links in the chain of our family may have been laid in reverse, the end result for us is the same; that of ensuring the Jewish future.
It is with great pride that we place our names amongst the names of those we have admired for many years.
