
When our grandparents immigrated to the United States from Eastern Europe, they were faced with poverty and discrimination. Professional opportunities were limited to them and their children.
Today, American Jews have become assimilated in our society to an extent unforeseen by our forefathers a generation ago. There is evidence that this assimilation may diminish the traditions of Judaism and tzedakah as we know it.
