Leonard and I wanted to support the Jewish community… so I endowed my Lion of Judah. This is a commitment of Jewish life… and it is gratifying to know that our endowment ensures perpetuation of the Lion of Judah level annual campaign gift. It not only provides a legacy in our generation… but in future generations to come. – Phyllis Friedel
I was born Jewish, raised Jewish, have always been Jewish. Not that I have ever been a deeply religious person, but I feel my Jewishness deeply. Living in Omaha, I felt the need for a Jewish Day School… so I established an endowment fund for such a school named ‘Friedel Jewish Academy.’
My wife Phyllis and I moved to Scottsdale 15 years ago and have been active in the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix – both serving on the board. Our daughter Randi Jablin of Scottsdale, has been active in the Federation, as well. In fact, she has been recognized for her Federation work with the Lee Amada Young Leadership Award. Our other daughter Lynne Gellman of Austin, Texas has also been active in her Federation.
In closing, I would like to say that Phyllis and I are happy to be members of the Leadership Council and hope that the list continues to grow and support the Annual Campaign of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix. – Leonard Friedel
