We came from very different Jewish backgrounds. But starting with our son’s brit, we both felt it important that we incorporate Jewish teachings and ritual into our family life. Judaism contains many beautiful traditions and is as relevant today as ever. We have been very fortunate, so for us, the mitzvah of tzedakah – the act of sharing commanded by the Torah – is especially meaningful. Just as our ancestors worked, fought and died to preserve our culture and our faith, we believe it’s now our turn to help ensure the continuity of the Jewish people and the vitality of our own Jewish community. The best legacy we can leave our son is to use his gifts to practice tzedakah and help preserve his heritage.
