YOUTH GRANTMAKING PROGRAM

In 2007, the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Phoenix’s B’nai Tzedek Youth Philanthropy Program was selected as one of only 10 programs nationwide to participate in the Pilot Incentive Grants Program of the Jewish Teen Funders Network (JTFN), a youth philanthropy project of the Jewish Funders Network. Recognizing the potential of Jewish youth philanthropy programs to empower and educate teens about effective philanthropy and Jewish values, JTFN awarded grants to Jewish communities committed to creating high quality Jewish youth philanthropy programs.

The JTFN grant, along with a generous donation from a local philanthropist, resulted in the formation of the Youth Philanthropy Board and Youth Grantmaking Program, affording dedicated teens the opportunity to be a part of the creation and implementation of a grantmaking program to address community and global needs.

Grant Recommendations

2012

Our 2011 – 2012 Mission: The Youth Philanthropy Board will award grants to organizations and programs meeting basic human needs and/or programs developing self-sufficiency in the Greater Phoenix area.

What We Fund: Programs with a direct impact on the lives of their constituents. We will consider requests for new programs with a concrete plan for success; existing programs that are willing to expand, refocus or try a new approach; innovative programs that provide a creative approach to addressing issues related to vocational services training. In light of the current economic crisis and rising unemployment, we will also consider requests for general operating support of existing programs.
